The only reason I got this book was because when I was in Barnes
and Noble someone took it out and put it back on the wrong shelf, so Iwent to put it in the right spot. When I picked it up it seemed like a really interesting book so I read the back and it sounded amazing.
A girl named Molly Dix just found out her father is a famous movie star and moves to Los Angeles to be with him because her mother died. Her step-sister Brooke Berlin doesn't want Molly to move in because she feels she will ruin everything and take the attention away from her.
Molly is a 16 year old girl from Indiana. Her mother died from cancer and as she was dying she told her about her father in LA so she could go live with him. Molly couldn't believe that her father was the most famous movie star ever and that her mom waited to tell her about him until now. Molly isn't very good at making friends and only had one best friend named Charmaine, but had to leave her to live in LA. She has a boyfriend named Danny who was there for her the most when her mom was sick. Molly is very nice and shy, but a great person overall.
When Molly arrives in LA, Brooke acts nice to her but really hates her on the inside. She gives her really bad fashion advice when she goes to the biggest party of the year to make her look stupid. When Molly finally figures out how Brooke really feels about her she was hurt, but then she got angry and started to be mean back. She becomes friends with Brookes arch enemy just to get on her nerves. Brooke got so mad she took a picture of Molly hugging another guy and sent it to her boyfriend back home in Indiana. At one point in the story, Brooke and Molly finally make up and start to hang out together, but then a secret got out about Brooke that only Molly knew and Brooke got so angry at her that she cried and pretended she didn’t exist anymore. Then Molly told her what really happened but Brooke didn’t believe her and Molly felt so unwelcome she moved back to Indiana to live with her grandma. When she arrived back home, Brooke and her dad had no idea where she went and Brooke realized that Molly wasn't lying and that she missed her. Molly decided she wanted to go back to LA with advice from her friends to try and fix things with Brooke.  She bought a plane ticket to fly back the next morning. I think the theme of this story would be, “ Just because things seem bad in the beginning, doesn’t mean it won’t work out in the end.”
Many of the things that Molly had felt or experienced when she was in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills were similar to things I had felt or experienced before. In the story, Molly had to stick up for herself when Brooke was being mean to her and saying stuff about her. If I was Molly I would have done the same thing. This book is similar to another book I read because in this story Molly’s mother dies and she has to go live with her famous father. In the other book I read a young girl’s father gets sick, so she has to go live in NYC with her famous mother.
I would recommend this book to other people because it was a very interesting story and it was really easy to get into it. In most stories the beginning is boring, but in this story the second you started reading it you couldn't put it down.I thought this was a fun story to read and it was appropriate for kids our age. This is a must read story and I promise you will love it.
