Group 4 Judith and John Holbrook

Olivia Levy, Jared Klinkowize, Jed Chizner, and Elizabeth Erickson

Judith is upset about the news of John Holbrook’s enlisting in the militia. Kit comes home to find Judith silent and her eyes as red as the tomatoes in their garden. Just sitting there, drowning in her tears. Then there was a knock. Kit opened the door, it was John Holbrook.
“John!” Judith ran toward him with great despair.
“Yes Judith, what is thy problem?”
“Why would you enroll into the militia?”
“Oh Judith I did not mean to upset you but…”
“But what?” Judith said with fury.
“I, I have to leave Wethersfield. I have to clear my mind”
“But why go and join the militia now? We are supposed to get married and grow old together.”
“But Judith I have an obligation to the people of Weathersfield.”
“But John you have an obligation to me as well we are getting married soon.”
“ Wait Judith let me speak. I wanted to propose to Mercy but you and your rude ways interrupted me”.
Mercy overhears the conversation. Mercy with a loud gasp says, “Is it true?” In a satisfied way.
“ How dare you Mercy you betrayed me. Father said I could marry John.”
“WELL GET OVER IT. He doesnt love you” Mercy screamed.
“Ladies stop fighting. Judith you have to understand. My one and only love is Mercy. I did not mean to upset both of you but before I leave to the militia I have to do the one thing I have wanted to do since I have met you and Mercy. I am going to marry her. Where is your father.”
“Father, Father come right now” Mercy cried aloud.
“What is the matter Mercy” Matthew said with a worried tone.
“John Holbrook-”
“Is a liar!” Shouted Judith
“Girls! What is the matter with thee”.
“Mercy stole my husband!”Judith said unhappily.
“What is the meaning of this childish behavior”
“Matthew, tis all my fault. I love Mercy, not Judith.”
“Then why would you take Judith’s hand in marriage?”

“The day of the husking bee Judith took me by surprise. She thought I was going to propose to her while the thing is I wanted to do after all was propose to Mercy.”
“Well why didn’t you say this all earlier?”
“I was afraid you would disapprove”
“John, if you love any of my daughters with great passion you would should be able to ask me with no problem”
“Okay then. Mercy, will you marry me?”
Mercy turned to Judith with a concerned look. “Do you mind sister?”
“No, not at all. I know for a fact that you would do anything to help me in need. Now I want to help you live in happiness with the love of your life.”
“Oh Judith! Thank you so much!” Mercy ran into John’s arms and said, “Yes! I will marry you.”
Now Judith lives a very happy life with the one and only, William Ashby. They have four children together. Judith puts all of her feelings toward John Holbrook aside and now has a very good relationship with her sister and John.
