It was a cloudy Sunday, after the meeting when John Holbrook came to say his goodbyes. John walked up to Kit to tell her that he would have to leave soon, he still had to pack and the militia was leaving for Massachusetts tomorrow.
Kit started to sob, she didn’t want him to leave.
“No!” Kit replied astonished.
“You can’t leave now. What about your love for Mercy? You can’t leave her now!” Kit bawled.
“I must go, I’m sorry.” sighed John.
“No you mustn’t, what about Mercy and your career?” repeated Kit.
“I won’t have Mercy due to the awkward position Judith had but me in. There isn’t anything left for me.” John pouted.
“Well if you leave you’ll never have a chance!” Kit warned.
“Mercy is in love with you, and if you love her too, then you will tell her.”
“Wait, what shes in love with me?”
He was devastated.
“But you know Mercy, she wouldn’t take anything from her sister, so even if I told her. She wouldn’t like me if I hurt Judith to be with her.” reminded John
“Wouldn’t you have to hurt Judith anyway?” she wondered,
"What do you mean?" asked John.
“If you leave, you hurt Judith even more than you would if you just tell her you don’t love her. You will be gone forever and she will never see you again. She would be heartbroken.” explained Kit.
"That's not true, I won't be gone forever, just a little while."
“But shes not aware of that. She loves you and the only thing on her mind is the fact that you’re leaving. You’ll never know if you’re coming back” rambled Kit.
“I already made a decision and I’m going, I have to. I’ll try my best to come back. Take care of yourself, Judith and Mercy. Goodbye for now.”
“Okay, Goodluck. But you should tell Mercy how you feel that's just my opinion. Goodbye."
