Ben Price walked the five lonely miles away from the Elmore bank in Arkansas to the train station. When he got on the train he thought to himself, “I can’t believe I just let the man I have been looking for this past year walk away.”
When he finally returned home, he walked through the door to his house and saw his wife Alyssa cooking dinner. He startled her by saying,” It smells delicious, Honey.”
“ Sweetie your home, I missed you,” his wife responds excitedly. “ Kids your fathers home!”
Their kids were running down the hallway screaming,”DADDY!”
“Kids! I missed you,” “Ben said. “ I am so happy to see you guys.”
“Let’s sit down for dinner, I’m starving,” Alyssa announced.
“Great idea. Kids, sit down to dinner,” Ben said softly to his two children.
“So how was your investigation?” inquired Alyssa.
“It was okay, but I have some news to tell you,” Ben said hesitantly. “I had to let him go.”
“What do you mean you let him go?!”
“Go to your room, kids. I have to talk your mom.” The kids walked away whispering to each other about what could be going on.
“What do you mean you let him go?!” Alyssa said again.
“I did it because he was a changed man; he would never touch another man’s money again, let alone rob a bank.”
“ What makes you so sure,” Alyssa said angrily. “ You’ve been looking for this man for a year and then you just let him go after all this time?”
“I could see it in his eyes that he was truly a good man now, and he only cracked that Elmore bank safe to save a little girls life not to go back to his past. He was in love darling, I could never stand in the way of true love.”
Alyssa sighed to herself, “ I guess I can understand. I’m sorry I got so angry with you, I probably would’ve done the same thing if I were you.”
“ Annabelle accepted the changed man that Jimmy had transformed into. They are still going to get married this weekend and Jimmy thanked me on my way out for not taking him away.”
“ You did the right thing Ben, but I’m surprised she would still want to marry a former bank robber.”
“ Nothing can stand in the way of true love,” Ben responded.
