“Go back and let aunt polly know that you’re alive. She is probably worried sick at home.” Informed the good voice.
So Tom went back home on a ferry boat and jumped out so nobody noticed him. Then he went home stealthily. He went upstairs and under his bed so no one noticed him.
“Go out from under the bed.” Commanded the good voice.
“stay under its better that aunt Polly thinks you’re dead so you can show up at the funeral and see her reaction.” suggested the bad voice.
“No she needs to know your alive so she isn’t mad when you return.” The Good voice informed.
“Its best that you stay hidden so you can see her reaction at the funeral and see how much she actually cares about you.” Said the bad voice.
“You need to show her you’re alive! Save her the concern and don’t let her go on thinking you’re dead because she will be very upset and unhappy for several days. You might as well save her the trouble since you’re here.” Insisted the good voice.
“Tom if you show yourself now aunt Polly is gonna lick you.” The bad voice warned.
So Tom decided to go back to Jackson’s island because he didn’t want to risk a licking. He went back completely unnoticed. He now knew when the funeral was so he could show up at the perfect time.
