That night, the family left the the bank overjoyed because of the rescue of Agatha. One person was not so happy about being duped, though, and that was Annabelle's father, Mr. Adams. He was as mad as a raging bull. “Dad, isn’t Ralph such a gentleman?”
“There is no way I will let you marry him,” he blurted out after they arrived home.
“But, Dad, if it weren't for him, Agatha would have suffocated to death in the vault!” stammered the stunned Annabel as tears welled up in her eyes.
“Annabel, he is a criminal. That’s why he had those tools with him,” responded the old man.
“But he is a changed man!
‘’He is being followed dear. That man outside the bank today was a detective who was trying to capture him and to put him in jail.”
Annabel being astounded at her fathers remark ran upstairs to have some privacy in her room. After crying in her room for an hour, she decided to go back to the bank. She wasn’t sure if she should sneak past her dad but she did being unsure if Ralph really was a robber.
Annabel walked up to the bank doors amused of what she saw. It was a note taped to the door from Ralph that read:
