Mother to Son
Life for me ain't been no crystal stair. <------ Life is not easy, comparing to a crystal staircase, luxury.
It's had tacks in it,
And boards torn up,
Bare.
But all the time
And reachin' landin's, <------ Sometimes good things happen
And turnin' corners,
And sometimes goin' in the dark
So, boy, don't you turn back.
For I'se still goin', honey,
I'se still climbin',
I believe that this poem means that life is not an elevator. Even when things get hard, you should continue to go. Continue to thrive, don't turn around on your decisions and punch them in the face. Life isn't easy-peasy, you have to work to reach the first landing, where you can take a break but down fall down the staircase, continue to charge upwards.
